We ran into the Brush salesman again. He goes door to door selling his brushes. He asked if we would give him a copy of the picture. We gave him a little money instead.
While walking we had a near death experience, well not near death but scary. A car went flying by us and hit the pothole where Hermana Pitcher is . We were on the sidewalk some 50 feet down the road from the pothole. This hunk of concrete came flying out of the pothole towards us. Elder Pitcher saw the rock bounding towards Hermana Pitcher. " Look out" was all that could be said. Hermana Pitcher calmly lifted her leg up as the rock went whizzing past her leg. It would have left a mark for sure.
Every December 7th, they have a celebration in which they hang these " Devil like " piñatas by their homes. They represent all the bad and evil things and spirits in their homes and lives. Then they burns these piñatas signifying that everything will be good. This tradition began when the Spanish were finally driven out of the country.
We came across these young girls. They had been selling tortillas and others food items along the street and by construction sites. They were so silly! Some tried to hide behind a friend so as to avoid being in the picture. Their native dress is always interesting to see.
This past week was anything but normal. On Tuesday we were asked to have an interview with the Area President( President Carlos Amado). We meet with him Wednesday morning. He speaks very good English. He invited us to serve as an Ex. Sec to the Area Presidency. Needless to say, this was not even on the radar screen as a possibility. We will begin this new assignment today. This means we are no longer working in the Temple as Temple Missionaries. We will probably be moving from Temple housing into a high rise apartment building where the other Sr. missionaries live. We will probably be using a car to travel around. As today is done, we will have more information to share about what we will be doing. It certainly has given us cause to consider how not to get to comfortable with what you are doing.
We are so blessed to have such a wonderful family and friends! You all are included in our prayers each and every day.

I talked with Kris at a baptism on Saturday and she mentioned that you had just received a new 'mission' call. I told the boys and they began dreaming of President Pitcher becoming a seventy and how neat that would be for them to say, "I home- taught President Pitcher and now he is a seventy." Then they all laughed and talked about how much fun they had going to your home and the great way you two always included them in your conversations. We are also grateful for you and your example. We will continue to pray for you always! Love you!
