   In the Area where we call home, Zone 14, we have done some exploring while on our walks. Initially we walked in what we call the Embassy District. This is very nice and safe. To change the route we walk, we walk going South and then loop around and come back to Victoria Suites. We walked past a Salon with an Oriental name and look. On the front wall of the business, right along the sidewalk, they have this vertical planter. It is really quite amazing.

 

 

Our Sundays at the CCM ( MTC ) are always fun. We really enjoy associating with the Missionaries. There is a very special Spirit in the training center. We usually have one or 2 assignments each Sunday. Conducting, teaching, speaking, training and of course eating lunch after the schedule is over. They have a wonderful kitchen staff that really takes their work seriously. They try to make the presentation of the food much more than just cafeteria food. This picture is of a melon that was carved and put on display. How is that for artistry ?

The Area Presidency has been busy this week. 2 of the 3 have had assignments out of the Capitol. They seem to be extremely busy. Most of their assignments are dictated by SLC. Stake Conferences, Stake re-organizations, Mission Tours, Mission Presidents Seminars, Area Councils, Area Review, Presiding Bishopric Review, Area History, Area Auditing, Area Security, Area Self Reliance, Area Public Relations, Area Temporal Affairs, Area Finances, Missionary Applications for the Area, Boundary and Leadership changes, Request to the First Presidency, and special projects as assigned seem to keep them  ( and us ) pretty busy.

Today at church the North American Hermanas made each of the North American leaders a Mother's Day Card. Each in the districts wrote a little note to Hermana Pitcher. It was touching that they would think of doing that! Hermana Pitcher gave the early morning lesson to the hermanas. After the lesson she had a big hug for each of them. She told them it was from her and their mothers also. Each of them had been able to talk to their families the day before.

Elder Pitcher took Hermana Pitcher out for dinner on Saturday to celebrate Mother's Day. Yum! He also bought screen for the windows of our apartment and then put it up. Hermana Pitcher has been bitten by many bugs during the nights, but not any more!

Elder Pitcher finally broke down and updated our ipad. Now we are able to connect to facetime again. Another special gift for Mother's Day. 

Thanks to all the kids and grandkids who sent special Mother's Day wishes. We love each of you and miss you, especially on days like today.

We are thankful for the opportunity to serve here in Guatemala. We are blessed!
